2011 - Continued growth in recent years calls for extension to Head Office in Airdrie. Plans are underway to extend Scotshield’s Head Office operations to accommodate additional staff and an expanding infrastructure to support their regional offices throughout the country. This investment goes back to back with current commitments to enhance IT and communications throughout the business.
Defining year for Scotshield’s healthcare strategy sees four new-build projects running concurrently in 2010-2011.
The second phase of works got underway at The State Hospital Carstairs with Scotshield working directly to Skanska Construction UK taking the design and build project into its third successive year. Elsewhere, our site based project team commenced works at the new build Victoria Hospital in Fife for Balfour Beatty to design and deliver a works package valued at £1.1m. In the same year orders were also secured for the new Southern General Hospital Laboratories in Glasgow for Mercury Engineering and Dumfries Acute Metal Health Development for Laing O’Rourke.
Looking to the long-term Scotshield aim to formalise their green credentials working towards ISO14001 accreditation. As a responsible contractor, Scotshield embraces its duty of care to the environment and now seeks to turn good practice into formal recognition.
Tony Kane, MD commented, “staff will be empowered and rewarded to promote an environmental culture throughout the business”. We take our environmental obligations seriously and this is simply the next logical step challenging our working practices aiming for the highest possible standards”
Scotshield make a further commitment to raise levels of business resilience even higher through accreditation to BS 25999. Targets are set for implementation by the end of 2011.
Eddie Brandon and Colin Gardner of Crownhouse Technologies have helped generate much needed funds for CHSS (Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland) over the past two years by taking part in some of their more daring events including abseiling off the Forth Rail Bridge and running in their inaugural 10k Ultimate Urbathon. Colin even went to America and completed the New York Marathon.
Not satisfied with their valiant efforts to date, they’ve decided to take it to the next level aiming to raise £10k for CHSS by trekking to Everest Base Camp in March/April 2011. As you can imagine, for them it will be a greater challenge than just a 10k - or indeed raising £10k. Scotshield have decided to help sponsor the event and we wish Eddie and Colin well in there endeavours.
